Loss & Rebuilding of Calligraphic Environment: On the Sustainable Development of the Chinese Calligraphy

Starting from the ecological point of view, the paper makes a deep study of the protection and of the Chinese calligraphy, a traditional art legacy. It makes a historical investigation of the relationship between calligraphy and environments at different historical stages before proposing the viewpoint that art develop coordinately with culture, economy and environment. It then introduces the theory of sustainable development to the Chinese calligraphy, and puts forth some foresighted opinions for rebuilding the calligraphic environment and developing calligraphic art in the new century.
