The Dialogue between Tradition and Modernity, the Application of Calligraphy to Arts and Design

The present domestic art works are increasingly deviating from national culture and spirit.Faced with this situation,drawing on traditional art style is one possible way to solve this problem.In traditional Chinese art,calligraphy plays an important role in modern art and design,it has the abstract style which hasn’t been found in other art forms.The calligraphy’s characteristics and aesthetic orientation,the form of calligraphy in the modern art,the relations between traditional Chinese calligraphy and modern art and design are all included in this thesis. Meanwhile, it also discusses how to use calligraphy elements in art and design.
