Abstract
Objective To evaluate the surgical effect of phacoemulsification and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation for super high myopia with cataract.Methods Phacoemulsification and IOL implantation was performed under local anesthesia on 42 cases (59 eyes) diagnosed with very high myopia and cataract.Results Three months after surgery, 35 eyes had a visual acuity of 0.3 or better in patients with axial lengths between 27~30 mm. Ten eyes had a visual acuity of 0.3 or better in patients with axial lengths greater than 30 mm.Conclusion Phacoemulsification and IOL implantation can significantly improve visual acuity in patients with very myopia and cataract.
