Abstract
A cognitive study of semantic extension,in light of the theories of cognitive semantics, reveals that metaphor and metonymy,as two main cognitive approaches, provide a cognitive motivation of semantic extension of words, and that metaphor and metonymy interact together in the process of words semantic extension, and a word meaning extends and changes in a spoke wise fashion interlaced by a concatenate pattern,in which metaphorical and metonymic mappings are interwoven.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
A contribution statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
Method details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Findings are not separately available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Limitations are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Application details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
