Eastern Miscellany and the Tibet Crisis in the Late Qing Dynasty:Taking British Invasion to Tibet in 1904 as Example

In 1904,Eastern Miscellany published a lot of Tibetan literature.These articles can be roughly divided into three main topics:1.analyze the conspiracy of British invasion of China's Tibet;2.monitor the management strategies of Qing dynasty in Tibet;3.state to compatriots the relations between the Tibet crisis and ethnic home state's existence.The three themes in general can be summed up as one center:encourage the government and people to pay more attention to Tibet,while inspire the compatriots' passion to the national crisis and guard the territorial integrity.Eastern Miscellany reported on British involvement in Tibet which disclosed the conspircy of British invasion of China's Tibet,at the same time,displayed the blood ties between Tibet and mainland China.These articles not only helped to stimulate the compatriots guarding the homeland integrity at that time,but also help today's people to understand the true history of Tibet,and through it,we can understand the sentiment of intellectuals in the late Qing dynasty trying to save the nation by the newspapers.
