Study on Treatment Effectiveness of Dog Demodex by Integrated Chinese-western Therapy Method

18 experimental outpatient dogs were randomly divided into 2 groups: in control group,treated with western medicine; in experiment group,used self-made compound Chinese traditional medicine with western medicine for treatment. One treatment period lasted for 4 to 6weeks. After the treatment,the number of insect body or eggs on skin was counted in both groups by microscope method. Then,the cure rate was calculated for evaluating the treatment effects. Further,the recurrence situation should be recorded after the treatment. The results showed that in control group,6 cases were cured,and 2 cases showed significant effect,but 1case improved little. The total effective rate and cure rate were 88. 9% and 66. 7% respectively. The relapse rate was 37. 5%. However,in experiment group,7 cases were cured,and 2 cases showed significant effect. The total effective rate and cure rate were 100. 0% and 77. 8%respectively. The relapse rate was 11. 1%. This result indicated that integrated Chinese-western medicine therapy on dogs' demodicidosis had good treatment effectiveness and low relapse rate obviously.
