Abstract
The Chinese reform and opening-up is also the process of the Chinese social modernity, which embodies gradual development in economy, politics, culture, society and people from passive, individual, perceptual, quantitative to active, comprehensive, rational and qualitative advance. It is characterized by imbalanced growth, severe backward modernity in so-calledthree agricultures(countryside, agriculture and farmers) and insufficient adaptability of the political system under pressure. There are also some serious issues for a sustainable development, such as rather higher dependency on the outside world and inconformity between modern culture and modern society, etc.
