Abstract

Objective:To Summarize our experience in orthognathic surgery for Correction of mandibular prognathism. Methods: 6 cases with mandibular prognathism underwent surgery treatment to move the mandibles back.5cases underwent bilateral modified sagittal split ramus osteotomy(SSRO),1case underwent bilateral modified sagittal split ramus osteotomy(SSRO) and maxillary advancement lefort Ⅰ osteotomy. Results: with routinely follow-up ranging from 1 year to 5 years,6 cases acquired satisfied effect, gained coordinate maxillomandibular relation,1case mandibular prognathism slightly recurred. Conclusion: The clinical effect of bilateral modified sagittal split ramus osteotomy(SSRO) Combined with Pre-and post surgical orthodontic treatment for mandibular prognathism is successful,It is greatly improved the face type and dental articulation of all the patients, the masticatory function is also improved.
