Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of sagittal split ramus osteotomy combined with orthodontic treatment on mandibular prognathism. Methods Nine cases with normal maxilla development, true mandibular prognathism, and serious cross-bite relation were treated by orthodontics before surgery, then received sagittal split ramus osteotomy and intrafixed with Ti-metals, to be treated in orthodontics after surgery, restore normal occluding relation. Results All cases acquired satisfied effect, gained coordinate maxillomandibular relation, the mandibular prognathism symptom done not recur. Conclusion The clinical effect of intraoral sagittal split ramus osteotomy and orthodontic treatment for mandibular prognathism is successful, It is good for being extend to application.
