Abstract

Objective: To investigate the effect of pregnant woman with anemia on the pregnancy outcome. Methods: From June 2002 to December 2002,92 pregnant women with anemia who delivered in our hospital, were retrospectively analyzed. And 55 cases of control group were randomly selected from the pregnant woman delivered in our hospital on the same time. The two group cases were comparatively analyzed on the postpartum hemorrhage, premature delivery average pregnant time and the average baby weight. Results: The incidence of postpartum hemorrhage and abortion were increased in anemia group compared with control group (χ\+2=4.69\,12.27,P0.05 respectively). The severity of anemia had a positive correlation with the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage (χ\+2=26.49,P0.05,Pearson coefficient 0.39),and had a negative correlation with the average pregnant time (P0.05). The neonate′s average weight in the two groups were not significantly different (t=1.64,P0.05). But the neonate′s average weights in the severe anemia cases were significantly different compared with control group (t=5.78,P0.05). Conclusion: Anemia with pregnancy has greatly increased the incidence of all kinds of complications, especially, severe anemia heavily threatened the pregnant woman and the neonate.
