Abstract

[Objective] To investigate the prevalence of overweight and obesity among children aged 11-12 years in Jinan. [Methods] 1629 children were randomly collected from 5 urban districts of Jinan, and their weights and heights were collected. The prevalence of overweight and obesity was estimated according to the WGOC. [Results] The overall prevalence of overweight among of 255 children aged 11-12 years was 15.7%, and the prevalence of obesity among 230 children was 14.1%. The incidence of overweight was higher than that of obesity. The incidence of obesity in boys was higher than that in girls. [Conclusion] The incidence of overweight and obesity among children in Jinan showed to be high, so it is necessary to strengthen the prevention and treatment for obesity among children.
