Abstract
The paper discussed four meanings of the word Lai(the auxiliary word of general physical appearance in the dialect of Longdong in the east of Gansu Province) used in Mandarin Chinese,local dialect,and ancient Chinese and tried to find the reasons why the word has become a form word.
