Abstract
Objective To study the effects of nifedipine on endothelial function and left ventricular hypertrophy in patients with essential hypertension. Methods 84 cases of untreated essential hypertension patients with left ventricular hypertrophy were chosen and randomly divided into two groups, which include treatment group(42 cases)and control group(42 cases). The patients in treeatment group were administrated nifedipine 30mg Qd for one year, and the patients in control group were administrated hydrochlorothiazide(HCT)25mg Bid.The parameters of endothelial function and left ventricular hypertrophy before and after the treatment were measured. Results In treatment, the levels of NO and PGI2 were higher after treatment than those before treatment(P0.05),and the levels of ET and TXA2 were lower than those before treatment(P0.05).However,there was no difference in the above parameters before and after the treatment in control group(P0.05).Left ventricular hypertrophy was significantly reversed in treatment group(P0.05).There was no difference in the parameters of left ventricular hypertrophy before and after the treatment in control group(P0.05).Conclusion Nifedipine can improve endothelial function and reverse left ventricular hypertrophy, which can be an ideal medicine for therapy of essential hypertension.
