Correlation between Hypertensive Left Ventricular Hypertrophy and Plasma Cardiotrophin-1 and the Effects of Carvedilol Intervention

Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlation of hypertensive left ventricular hypertrophy and plasma cardiotrophin-1 and the effect of carvedilol.Methods 60 patients with hypertensive left ventricular hypertrophy were randomly divided into treatment group(n=30) and control A group(n=30),another 30 patients with simple hypertension were selected as control B group.Treatment group were administrated with CAR for 6 months.Examine echocardiography,the plasma CT-1,lipids,fasting glucose,and monitor heart rate,blood pressure before and after the inspection.Results Left ventricular and diastolic diameter,diastolic interventricular septum thickness,left ventricular posterior wall thickness,left ventricular mass index(LVMI) and plasma CT-1 of treatment group,were decreased After 6 months,and significantly lower than control A group(P0.05 or 0.01),but were significantly higher than control B group(P0.05 or 0.01),and did not change significantly in control A,B group before and after treatment(P0.05).The plasma CT-1 of the treatment group and control A group,were significantly higher than the control B group(P all 0.01).There was significant positive correlation between LVMI and plasma CT-1(r=0.8618,P0.001).No adverse effects on blood lipids and fasting blood glucose were observed in treatment group(P0.05).Conclusion CT-1 is closely related to disease development of left ventricular hypertrophy in hypertension,CAR can significantly reverse the cardiac hypertrophy,suggesting that its mechanism may lie in that CAR can inhibit the CT-1 generate.
