ECONOMIC SIGNIFICANCE OF ECO-ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTIONAND THE DELINEATION OF ECOLOGICAL FUNCTIONALZONES IN YANGTZE RIVER VALLEY

The entry of China into the WTO makes her join in the world economic system,which will gring her both opprtunities and challenges.In recent years,European and American countries have been carrying out environmental management system certification.The World Standard on Environmental Protection becomes one of the leading non-tariff barriers for developing countries to do international trade.Yangtze river valley is one of the largest inland river industry lelts and manufacture bases in the world.The World Standard on Environmental Protection will have a far-reaching impact on the industrial development of the valley,especially on its foreign trade exports.On one hand,it will set up new barriers for our country's exprots.On the other hand,it will exert environmental pressures directly on enterprises.The attention to the environmental protection will be transformed from governmental behavior and public pressure to enterprise action.Due to large-scale development,rapid economic protress,nore human activities and global environmental change,Yangtze river valley faces many ecological security problems and its ecological self-adjustment function,and recovery function has decreased.According to its eco-environmental characteristics,Yangtze river valley can be divided into five ecological functional zones,including the source region,Jinshajiang river zone,the upper reaches,the middle reaches and the ower reaches.The suggestion on the eco-environmental protection in different zones is put forward.
