Abstract

Objective To observe the expression of P27 and Fas in normal gastric mucosa and gastric carcinoma of three different pathologic types, and to investigate the relationship between P27 and Fas with tumorigenesis of gastric carcinoma and their clinical significance. Methods We detected the expression of P27 and Fas in 135 cases of gastric carcinoma(70 cases from gastroscope and 65 cases from operation) by means of immunohistochemical staining technique(SP method). Results The positive expressions of P27 and Fas were 45.93% and 42.96% in gastric carcinoma, which were significantly lower than those in normal gastric mucosa(84.44% and 77.78%).The positive expressions of P27 and Fas were 65.45% and 60.00% in high differentiation adenocarcinoma, both were higher than 33.96% in low differentiation adenocarcinoma,40.74% and 33.33% in stomach mucosa carcinoma, respectively, showing statistical difference(P0.05).The positive expression of P27 and Fas in high differentiation adenocarcinoma is higher than that in low differentiation adenocarcinoma and stomach mucosa carcinoma. The positive expression of P27 and Fas had no statical significance between low differentiation adenocarcinoma and stomach mucosa carcinoma(P0.05).The positive expression of P27 and Fas was 48.00% and 72% in the cases without lymph node metastasis, which were much higher than 22.50% and 40% in the cases with lymph node metastasis. Conclusion The positive expression of P27 and Fas in gastric carcinoma is low.The low expressions of P27 and Fas in gastric carcinoma are related to the progression of gastric carcinoma, pathologic stage and lymph node metastasis. It is helpful to detect P27 and Fas expression in the judgment of gastric carcimoma progression.
