Abstract
Objective To explore the correlation between Helicobacter pylori(Hp) infection and chronic gastritis. Methods Reports of gastroscopy and pathology of 2 789 patients with chronic gastritis were analyzed retrospectively, and the association of chronic gastritis with and Hp was investigated. Results The incidence of Hp infection in middle-and older-age(40-87 years) patients was higher than that in the young(18-39 years) patients(χ2=46.60,29.08;P0.01),and there was no sex difference in terms of Hp infection(P0.05).The incidence of Hp infection in active gastritis was 99.0%,in which, moderate to severe cases accounting for 51.5%,all were obviously higher than that in non-active condition(χ2=179.93,P0.01).The incidences of Hp infection in chronic superficial gastritis and chronic atrophic gastritis were 83.6% and 95.4%,respectively,the difference between them being significant(χ2=28.88,P0.01).In Hp-positive group, the prevalence of severe gastritis, intestinal metaplasia and atypical hyperplasia was higher than in Hp-negative group(uc=-30.19——13.17,P0.01).ConclusionThe occurrence and development of chronic gastritis is closely related to Hp infection.
