Abstract
Objective:To study the practica l significance of the combined application of the hepatic artery chemoembolizatio n (TACE) and the percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) for hepatocellular carcino ma.Methods :From August 1999 to October 2001,65 HCC patients were treated with interventional therapy.TACE alone was given in group 1(34 cases),and combin ed treatment with TACE and PEI in group 2(31 cases). All patients were examined b y CT and AFP.[WT5 ”HZ]Results:The rate of reduction of the tumor is 46.4%,the objective response(CR+PR) is 35.3% and the rate of the decline of the AFP level is 56.1% in groupl, while respectively 61.6%,64.5 and 78 6% in group 2(P 0.01). Conclusion:It is certain for the combined appli cation of TACE and PEI to treat HCC,which is much better than TACE alone.
