Abstract

Objective To study clinical significance of serum cystatin C( cystatin C,Cys C) and serum uric acid( UA) in the early period of Hypertensive disorder of pregnancy( HDP) complicating Gestational Diabetes Mellitus( GDM) through the changing levels of serum Cys C combined with serum UA detection. Methods Totally114 cases were prenatal checked-up regularly and clearly diagnosed as GDM from January 2010 to January 2012 in Nanhai Maternal and Child Health Hospital. Among 114 pregnant women with GDM,23 cases of them complicating HDP were as Group A and the other 91 cases without complications were as Group B. Meanwhile,90 women with normal pregnancy in the same period were selected for Group C. The levels of serum Cys C and serum UA of all patients in three groups were tested respectively at 24 ~ 28 gestational weeks,32 ~ 34 gestational weeks,38 ~ 40gestational weeks and the results were compared. Results( 1) Significant differences of serum Cys C were found among three groups in different periods of pregnancy( F = 106. 215,P 0. 05),and interaction effects between groups and gestational age were found( F = 26. 300,P 0. 05). Quadratic curve fitting was described to the indications of the outcome of CysC in different periods of pregnancy.( 2) Significant differences of serum UA were found among three groups in different periods of pregnancy( F = 21. 08,P 0. 05). Interaction effects between groups and gestational age were found( F = 4. 11,P 0. 05). Line fitting was described to the indications of serum UA in different gestational age. Conclusion Serum Cys C as well as serum UA was correlated with GMD. This finding may have important implications to predict complicating HDP in GMD and early renal damage by monitoring serum Cys C combined with serum UA.
