Abstract

Objective To study the foreign language classroom anxiety and the relationship between the anxiety and the foreign language performance among high school students.Methods A total of 117 high school students were investigated with the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale(LCAS) and Embedded Figures Test(EFT).Results The level of foreign language anxiety of the male was significantly higher than that of the female.There was no significant difference between art students and science students in foreign language anxiety.The foreign language anxiety level of the field-independent students was significantly higher than that of the field-dependent students.There was a significant negative correlation between the foreign language anxiety and foreign language performance.Conclusions The high level of foreign language anxiety of field-independent students hinders their foreign language learning.
