Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the therapeutic effect of second generation micro-endoscopic discectomy(MED-Ⅱ)in treatment of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc.Methods:A retrospective analysis was made on 32 cases(33 discs)of lumbar disc herniation undergone MED between May,2006 and July,2008.Among them,31 were single disc herniation and 1 was double disc herniation.The prolapse was involved in at L3~4 in 2 cases,L4~5 in 7,L5~S1 in 22 and both L4~L5 and L5~S1 in 1.Results:All the cases were followed up,ranging from 1 to 12 months with an average of(5.6±0.8)months.The results showed that 90.6% recovered.Conclusion:MED has the advantages of minimal invasion,adequate decompression of the nerve root and rapid recovery,but the specific indications must be taken into account.
