Abstract

Objective:To investigate the surgical technique main points and clinical results to treat lumbar disc herniation by microendoscopic discectomy(MED).Methods:72 cases of lumbar disc herniation treated by microendoscopic discectomy were analyzed retrospectively.Results:Follow-up period was 2 to 24 months after operation, and the average follow-up time was 12.8 months. The results, based on Macnab criteria, were excellent in 41 patients, good in 23 patients, fair in 5 patients and poor in 3 patients and the satisfactory rate was 88.9%.There was no infection of intervertebral space and olisthe of vertebral body. Conclusion:Microendoscopic discectomy is an effective method to treat lumbar disc herniation, following a minimally invasive operation tendency, has the characteristics of minimal invasion and light pain, rapid recovery.
