The influence of psychological care on rehabilitation of patients with depression after cerebral stroke

Objective To explore the influence of psychological care on patientswith post-cerebral stroke depression.Methods Ninety four patients with post cerebral stroke depression were randomly divided into two groups: psychological care group and control group,47 patients in each group.Patients in control group received routine treatment,nursing care and rehabilitation exercises.Patients in psychological care group received appropriate psychological care and intervention on the basis of conventional treatment and care.All patients were evaluated by Hamilton Depression Rating Scale ( HAMD) and Barthel activities of daily living ( ADL) index before treatment and at 4 and 8 weeks after antidepressant treatment.Results After 4 and 8 weeks of treatment,the difference between control group and psychological care group was statistically significant.Conclusion The psychological care intervention can improve the condition and shorten the duration of depression in patients with cerebral stroke,and promote the functional recovery of patients.It also can reduce disability,improve the quality of life and promote the recovery of patients from disease.
