Abstract
Objective: To estimate the prevalence of HIV and analyze the risk behaviors in heroin addiction group. Method: The data of 3015 heroin addicts who were treated in our hospital from 1997 to 1999 were analyzed. Result: Among the 3015 cases 22 (0.73%) were found HIV positive, including 19 (0.73%) males and 3 (0.75%) females . Of the 22 HIV positive cases 19 (86.36%) were injecting drug users, of which 89.47% (17/19) had a history of sharing injectors; 72.73% had more than one sexual partners. Conclusion: Heroin abusers are high-risk group of HIV infection. The risk behavior of HIV infection involved sharing injectors and improper sexual behavior.
