Abstract
Objective To study the application of autologous sclera flap covering to prevent exposure of hydroxyapatite prosthesis seat after eyeball removal.Methods Implanted hydroxyapatite prosthesis was covered with autologous scleral flap sutured in front of the seat in phase I.Results In all 21 cases that were followed up for 6 to 18 months,no orbital implantation exposure has occurred.Conclusion IAutologous monolayer sclera flap can be used to cover the front of implanted hydroxyapatite prosthesis.This method could prevent the irritation or tearing of the anterior facials and bulbar conjunctiva caused by constant contact to a rough surface of the prosthesis seat,and therefore could effectively prevent the exposure of the implanation.
