Abstract

Objective To observe the influence of Folic Acid and Vitamin B12 on serum homocysteine( Hcy)level of patients with early diabetic nephropathy( DN). Methods Sixty patients with early DN admitted in Geriatric Hospital of Hebei Province during August 2013 and August 2014 were divided into treatment group( n = 30) and control group( n = 30). Conventional treatment was given for the two groups, and the treatment group was added with Folic Acid and Vitamin B12 for 15 d on the basis of conventional treatment. The changes of biochemical indicator, urinary albumin excretion rate( UAER) and Hcy levels before and after the treatments in the two groups were observed. Results The levels of fasting plasma glucose( FPG) after the treatment in the two groups were decreased compared with those before the treatment( P 0. 05),while there were no significant differences in the levels of Hb A1,Cr and BUN before and after the treatment in the two groups( P 0. 05). In treatment group, the levels of Hcy and UAER after the treatment were significantly lower than those before the treatment in treatment and control groups( P 0. 05). Conclusion Folic Acid combined with Vitamin B12 in treatment of patients with early DN can effectively reduce the Hcy level, which has a certain clinical significance in prevention and treatment of DN.
