Abstract
Objective To evaluate the role of time-intensity curve of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography in differential diagnosis between benign and malignant breast tumors. Methods Twenty-seven patients with breast tumors underwent contrast-enhanced ultrasonography. The perfusion indexes including peak time, peak intensity, area under curve and mean transit time were detected in the tumor center and margin using the time-intensity curve(gamma coefficient variable value),and their differences were compared between benign and malignant neoplasms. Results All cases were diagnosed by pathological examination, with 13 benign and 14 malignant lesions. The perfusion indexes of malignant tumors were superior to those of benign ones(P0.05 or 0.01).Although the marginal perfusion indexes were higher than those in malignant lesions(P0.05 or 0.01),there were no statistical differences them in benign lesions(P0.05).Conclusion The quantitative parameters of time-intensity curve are reliable in the differential diagnosis between benign and malignant breast tumors in contrast-enhanced ultrasonography.
