Abstract

Objective: To study the expression of growth associated protein 43(GAP 43) in nerve regeneration of rat with injured sciatic nerve. Methods:By Anti GAP 43,Western Blot was used to examine the different expression of GAP 43 in the distal and proximal stump of post transected sciatic nerve and nerve of SD rat. Results: The positive band was found around 43kDa on NC membrane, the reaction was weaker in the intact sciatic nerve and deeper significantly after nerve injury.Following injury time, there was no much change in the proximal stump, positive reaction in the distal stump increased to the deepest at the third week, then it was decreased. Conclusion:The expression of GAP 43 was in the low levels and increased significantly after sciatic nerve injury, and the expression reached the highest levels at the third week in the distal stump.
