Losses and Gains from Source Text to Target Text

So far the proposition that translation is a kind of creative treason has generally been recognized in the field of translation. But no consensus is reached as to the issues of what creative treason really is,and what has been lost and gained during the process from the source to the target text. Starting from these issues, and inspired by the three integral constituents of the text meaning ,the author investigates the losses and gains from the source to the target text and draws the following conclusion: intention of the author is lost, intention of the translator gained, source text intention retained.
