Comparative Study of Calcipotriol(0.005%) Ointment and Tazarotene(0.05% and 0.10%) Gel in the Treatment of Stable Plaque Psoriasis

Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of tazarotene gel and calcipotriol ointment in the treatment of plaque-type psoriasis.Methods 60 patients with plaque-type psoriasis were divided into three groups.18 patients were treated with calcipot riolointment topically twice a day for 8 weeks.21 patients were treated with 0.10% or 0.05% tazarotene gel topically once on night for 8 weeks respectively.Results After 8 weeks' treatment,the plaque improvement by using topical calcipotriol 0.005% ointment was comparable to tazarotene 0.1% gel,however,more than tazarotene 0.05% gel(P0.05);the total effective rates were 83.33%,85.71% and 76.19% respectively.No obvious differences were observed between the three groups(P0.05).Conclusion Tazarotene gel and calcipotriol ointment were safe and effective in therapy for plaque type psoriass.
