Abstract

Since the end of the 70′s of the 20th century, the income gap between the urban residents and the rural residents in China has undergone a changing process.Though the income gap narrowed down in the first half of 1980′s,it was expanded again soon.As a whole, the income gap between the urban residents and the rural residents takes on long-term expansion trend. This trend has exerted dual influences on economic and social development of China, and its negative influences are extensive and serious,so we must pay close attention to it.The problem of income gap between the urban residents and the rural residents cannot be resolved radically in a short time, but it is necessary for the government to carry out some proper regulation policies. In order to hold back the expansion of income gap,the government should set up policies that regulate income gap between the urban residents and rural residents.
