Abstract

The income gap between urban and rural residents has existed for a long time, either before or after the Chinese reform and opening-up policy. Before the reform and opening-up policy, the income gap between urban and rural residents in China was aninverse regulationon the whole; while after the open-door policy, our government did really begin to adjust the income gap between urban and rural residents. And the basic experience drawn from the regulation is: to adjust the income gap under the guidance of the government and from the point of economic development stage of the country, and to innovate constantly the means of regulation.
