Abstract
Objective: To discuss the effects of the treatment of asthma by using both Magnesium Sulfate and Phentolamine. Methods: Divided 47 serious asthma patients into 2 groups-contrasted group and clinic group. 16 patients belonging to the contrasted group received only conventional treatment. 31 patients belonging to the clinic group received not only conventional treatment but also the treatment by using 10ml solution of 25% Magnesium sulfate and 10mg Phentolamine mixed with 250ml 5%GNS by means of intravenous dripping. The rate is 15 drops one minute, quaque die. Kept giving such treatment for 3 to 6 days in succession, depending on the patient’s condition. Results: In the contrasted group 5 cases showed effects within 48 hours of treating. In longer than 48 hours of treating, 9 cases showed effects. 2 cases showed no effects. The curative effect rate is 87.5%. In the clinic group, 28 cases showed effects within 48 hours of treating and 3 cases did in longer than 48 hours of treating. The curative effect rate is 100%. The curative effect rate of the clinic group is obviously higher than that of the contrasted group (P0.05). Conclusion: In addition to conventional treatment, using Magnesium sulfate and Phentolamine can raise the curative effect rate of treating asthma.
