Objective To evaluate clinic applications in restoring residual crowns of posterior teeth with fiber posts. Methods 124 residual crowns of posterior teeth were randomly divided into group A and group B, group A were treated with fiber posts and group B were treated with casting metal posts respectively. Each group was followed up for 2~3 years. Results 4 cases were found loosen, together with 3 teeth fractures in group B, only one tooth fracture was found in group A. However, there was no significant statistical difference between them. Conclusion There is no significant difference of retention between fiber post and casting metal post, fiber post present prospective clinic application in restoring residual crown of posterior teeth.
