A Study of Regional Cerebral Blood Flow on Negative Schizophrenia by Brain SPECT

Abstract

Purpose:This study was designed to investigate the characteristics of the region cerebral blood flow(rCBF)in patients with schizophrenia and the relationship between rCBF and clinical manifestations.Materials and Methods:The rCBF in 23 patients of schizo- phrenia was measured with SPECT.The psychiatric symptoms of all patients were assessed with PANSS.The results were compared with that of 19 normal controls.Results:The baseline rCBF at frontal and temporal lobes were lower in schizophrenia than that in controls.The most affected was left frontal lobe.Conclusion:The rCBF in schizophrenia was abnormal as compared with normal persons.
