Abstract

Objective:To investigate the regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) in schizophrenic patients and the relationship between rCBF ratio and the symptoms, efficacy. Method:Brain imaging with 17 schizophrenic patients were conducted with 99m Tc-ECD before and after the treatment, and compared with 11 normal controls.Psychiatric symptoms of all patients were evaluated by PANSS. Results:Before treatment, the baseline rCBF of right frontal and trmporal lobes were lower in schizophrenia than in controls. After treatment,rCBF of these two brain regions in schizophrenia were improved significantly. No significant correlation was found between rCBF in different brain regions and psychopathologic symptoms and efficacy. Conclusion:The function of right frontal and temporal lobes decrease in schizophrenia, but there is no significant correlation between rCBF and mental symptoms ,efficacy.
