Abstract

Objective:To improve understanding the CT findings in celiac abscess.Methods:29 lesions in 22 consecutive patients with celiac abscess proved by surgery or fine needle puncture were underment CT examination. The CT data were retrospectively reviewed. Results:Compared with the soft-tissue 19 lesions(66%) presented the wall of abscess with nonhomogeneous density which was higher than the soft-tissue on post-contrast CT scans.Air bubbles inside of the abscess were seen in 12(41%) lesions. No calcification was presented in all patients. Conclusion:Contrast material-enhanced dynamic CT scans are accurate in locatable and quantitative diagnosis of abscess, which also was highly accurate in qualitative diagnosis in it when combined with clinic data .Bubbles and the wall of abscess with nonhomogeneous density are specific.
