Abstract
Objective To analyze the CT findings of celiac abscess in order to improve diagnostic level.Materials and Methods The CT findings of 29 lesions in 22 consecutive patients with celiac abscess proved by surgery or fine needle puncture were retrospectively reviewed. Results 19 lesions (66%) were presented as the irregular wall of abscess with homogeneous enhancement. Air bubbles or air-liquid surface inside of the abscess were seen in 12(41%) lesions. No calcification was presented in all lesions. Conclusion CT is a accurate method in qualitative diagnosis of celiac abscess, air bubbles and the wall of abscess with homogeneous enhancement are specific CT features.
