Abstract

Objective To study the expression of interleukin-24( IL-24) and vascular endothelial growth factor( VEGF) in the diagnosis of different malignant degree of human glioma. Methods Immunohistochemical method( SABC) was used to detect the level of IL-24 and VEGF in 40 cases of glioma and 40 cases of normal brain tissues. Results The microvascular density( MVD) in high grade glioma, low grade gliomas and non tumor brain tissues were significantly different( P 0. 05). The expression of IL-24 was negatively correlated with histologic grading( γ =- 0. 416,P 0. 05),and VEGF was positively correlated with histologic grading( γ = 0. 524,P 0. 05). The MVD between positive and negative expression of IL-24 and VEGF were statistically different( P 0. 05). Conclusion IL-24 and VEGF have close correlation with tumor angiogenesis, and its expression can be used to judge the malignant degree of glioma.
