Abstract
In the backgrounds of academic history in the 20th century, Sun Jimin, according to the four developing periods of China s historiography, analyses Chen Yinque, Tang Changru and Hu Rulei 's a chievements in historiography and affirms their status in Chinas academic history. He thinks Mr. Chen inherits the old and starts the new with Chinese style of cultural history. And Tang Changru walks from the old to the new with academic style of materialist history. And Hu Rulei abandons the old and opens the new with theoretical style of ancient history. In addition, such scholars as Zhu Lei, Zhang Guogang, Dong Guodong, Ning Zhixin and Huang Zhengjian also give their opinions.
