Clinical significance of β_2-microglobulin of blood and urine to renal function of hypertension

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the relationship between the early renal damage and blood and urine β2-microglobulin(β2-MG) in hypertensive patients.Methods:β2-microglobulin levels in blood and urine in 58 hypertensive patients and 32 normal controls were determined with radioimmunoassay and the correlation between the two the groups was compared and analyzed.Results:Plasma level of β2-microglobulin in hypertensive patients(2.679±1.274) mg/L was significantly higher than that in the normal controls(1.725±0.547) mg/L(P0.05).The urine level of β2-microglobulin in hypertensive patients(137.2±130.0) μg/L was also significantly higher than that in the normal controls(52.0±32.0) μg/L(P0.05).Conclusion:The early renal damage of hypertension patients is closely associated with the β2-microglobulin in blood and urine.Measurement of β2-microglobulin in blood and urine can be used as a sensitive indicator for the diagnosis of renal function of hypertension.
