Abstract

Aim:To study the expression and clinical significance of P16 and Survivin protein in oral lichen planus(OLP) and oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC) tissue. Methods:Immunohistochemical technique SP was used to detect the expression of P16 and Survivin protein in 40 cases of OSCC,40 cases of OLP tissues and 26 cases of normal oral mucosa, and their clinical significance was also analyzed. Results: The results showed that P16 in 9 cases of OSCC tissues(22.5%),in 21 cases of OLP tissues(52.5%),and in 22 cases of normal oral mucosa (84.6%) had positive expression, and Survivin in 22 cases of OSCC tissues (55.0%),in 12 cases of OLP tissues (30.0%),and in 1 case of normal oral mucosa (3.9%) had positive expression. The expressions of P16 and Survivin were significantly different in normal oral mucosa,OLP and OSCC tissues (χ2=48.36,26.46,P0.05).Conclusion: P16 and Survivin may play an important role in the occurrence and development of OSCC.
