Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects and safety of aripiprazole and haloperidol on patients with schizophrenia at primary attack.MethodsSixty patients with disease of this type were randomized to aripiprazole and haloperidol groups,treated with the above drugs separately,the course of treatment being eight weeks.The efficacy and side effects were evaluated with PANSS and TESS.ResultsThe efficacy of aripiprazole and haloperidol was similar and the adverse effects were mild.ConclusionAripiprazole is effective with few side effects,well tolerated and highly safe for patients with schizophrenia at primary episode.
