Abstract

Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety between aripiprazole and haloperidol in the treatment of naive senile schizophreniaMethod:Sixty naive senile schizophrenia were randomly divided into aripiprazole group(aripiprazole treatment)or haloperidol group(haloperidol treatment)for 8 weeks. The positive and negative syndrome scale(PANSS)and the treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS)were used to assess the efficacy and the side effects. Results:There was no significant difference in the clinical efficacy between aripiprazole and haloperidol treatment. The patients in aripiprazole group had mild side effects. Conclusion:Aripiprazole has a good efficacy and high safety in the treatment of naive senile schizophrenia, which is favorable for long-term maintain treatment.
