Therapeutic Effect of Interferon for Treating Chronic Hepatitis B

Abstract

Objective To observe the clinic effect, impact factors and safety of recombinant human interferon α-1b for treating chronic hepatitis B(CHB) cases. Method 140 CHB cases selected from out-and in-patients were divided into 2 groups:84 cases in α-1b treatment group, and 56 cases in liver-protective group.Furthermore, α-1b treatment group was once again divided into 3 subgroups according to sexes, ALT level and number of copies of HBV-DNA. The liver function, change of hepatitis B virus marker, impact factors of effectiveness and side-effects were observed. Results (1) In α-1b treatment group, the HBeAg negative rate, HBeAg serum inversion rate and HBV-DNA negative rate were significantly higher than that in liver-protective group(P0.01), and the ALT recovery rate and HBsAg negative rate were also higher than that in liver-protective group (P0.05). (2)In α-1b treatment group, better therapeutic effect revealed in females and those with higher ALT level and HBV-DNA≤106 copies/ml before treatment. (3) The side-effects of α-1b were fever(72 cases,85.7%), influenza-like symptoms (50 cases, 59.5%) and leukopenia (40 cases,47.6%). Those with side-effects could recovery quickly without special treatment and only 2 cases with leukopenia were recovery normal after being treated with leukogenic drug. Conclusion α-1b interferon is one of the effective and safety medicines for treating CHB especially to females or those with higher ALT level or HBV-DNA≤106 copies/ml.
