Abstract

Apa I, Dra I and Msp I polymorphisms of porcine growth hormone (pGH) gene's a 834bp segment encompassing base - 119 through base +715 were analyzed by PCR-RFLPs in Xiang Pig, Shanghai White and Large Yorkshire. The results showed that there were three genotypes (AA, BB, AB) in every porcine breed when the PCR products were cut by Apa I, BB genotype frequency of Large Yorkshire was highest in three breeds and AB genotype frequency of Xiang Pig was highest in three breeds, and the difference of genotype frequencies and allele frequencies in three breeds was not significant (p0.05). Dra I restriction enzyme site polymorphism of pGH gene wasn't discovered in these porcine breeds. When the PCR products were cut by Msp I, there were two genotypes (CC, CD) in Large Yorkshire breed and there were not polymorphism of pGH gene in Xiang Pig and Shanghai White. Conclusion: It is possible that AB genotype is the helpful genotype of miniature pig for its highest genotype frequency in Xiang Pig. Dra I and Msp I restriction enzyme site polymorphisms of pGH gene are poor in Xiang Pig and Shanghai White.
