Abstract

Objective: To study the effects of varieties and growth years on polysaccharide content of Codonopsis lanceolata. Methods: The content of polysaccharide was determined by the phenol-sulfuric method and the detection wavelength was 490 nm. The glucose was taking as standard for the determination. Results: The content of polysaccharide was10. 28%,14. 24%,12. 77% and 11. 27% for Tai Shen 2 and 10. 95%,12. 85%,14. 13%,13. 06% for Tai Shen 3 of different growth years from 1 to 4 years old. Conclusion: There were significant differences in the polysaccharide content of C. lanceolata of different varieties and growth years. The contents of polysaccharide for Tai Shan 2 and Tai Shan 3 were higher than that of Tai Shan 1. UP to 3 years of growth stage, polysaccharide content in plant were increased with the increasing years of planting, and then the content will be decreased as the increasing years.
