Abstract
Objective: To study the significance of the expression of p53 in thyroid carcinoma.Method: Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of p53 in 10 normal thyroid tissues, 30 thyroid benigh disease and 100 thyroid carcinoma. Result: No positive expression of p53 was found in normal thyroid tissues. The positite rate of p53 in thyroid adenoma, nodular goitre, papillary thyroid carcinoma, follicular thyroid carcinoma and undefferentediated carcinoma was 13.3%、13.3%、36.4%、42.9%、46.2% respectively. The expression of p53 was significantly correlated with the various pathologic types of them (P0.001). Significantly differences of p53 expression can be seen between thyroid benigh and maligant tumor (P0.05). Conclusion: p53 expression can be important factors for identifying the benigeh and maligant tumor and their biological behaviors.
