Abstract
Objective To investigate the changes of plasma 8-iso-prostaglandin F 2α(8-iso-PGF2α)in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS)and in those with complicated hypertension(OSAHS+HT),pathophysiological changes of OSAHS,the pathogenesis of OSAHS+HT.Methods Nineteen OSAHS patients (OSAHS group),21 OSAHS patients with complicated hypertension (OSAHS+HT group) and concurrently 20 health persons (control group) were enrolled. The plasma 8-iso-PGF2α in all the subjects were measured by ELISA and the results were compared among the 3 groups. Results The plasma 8-iso-PGF F2αconcentrations were (7.5±2.1)ng/ml in the control group,(11.1±3.3)ng/ml in OSAHS group and (14.8±3.4)ng/ml in OSAHS+HT group. There was a significant difference among the 3 groups (F=30.992,P0.01),and there was a significant difference between OSAHS,OSAHS+HT groups and control group(P0.01).The correlation analysis showed that the plasma level of 8-iso-PGF2α in OSAHS and OSAHS+HT groups were significantly correlated with the sleep apnea hypopnea index, percentage of SaO290% lasting time over the total sleeping time, ratio of sleep apnea time to total sleep time, lowest SaO2 during sleep apnea, average lowest SaO2,and longest time at apnea event (P0.05).Conclusion Oxidative stress in OSAHS patients goes up,which may be one of the pathogeneses of OSAHS and its complicated hypertension. The plasma OSAHS 8-iso-PGF F2αis obviously correlated with the indices reflecting the severity of sleep apnea.
