Abstract

Objective To study the expression and significance of Survivin and P53 in gastric cancer. Methods The expression of Survivin and P53 was determined by immunohistochemistry SABC method in gastric mucosa of cancer, of atypical hyperplasia, of superficial gastritis and of normal stomach. Results The expressions of Survivin and P53 in specimens of cancer, (atypical) hyperplasia, superficial gastritis and normal gastric mucosa were significantly different among them(u_c=2.28-4.61, (P)(0.05)). The positive rate of mutant type P53 increased with advanced clinical staging, declining differentiation, deeping invasion and lymph-node metastasis(χ~2=4.39-8.76,P0.05).The expression of Survivin positively correlated with that of mutant type P53 protein(χ~2=5.95,P0.05). Conclusion The abnormal expression of Survivin and P53 may result in abnormal cellproliferation, which correlates with the development of gastric cancers. The P53 protein may act as the marker determining biological behaviors of gastric cancer.
